This summer, I’ve had the incredible pleasure of spending my days in the Hamptons with an amazing group of women who are not just friends but also fierce entrepreneurs and personal inspirations. Together, Gina Bradley, founder of Paddle Diva, Helen Gifford, the creative mind behind HelenBilt lighting, and Kirstin Boncher, owner of a thriving photography business, have illuminated not only their respective industries but also how I choose to lead my own life and run my consulting business. Their examples of professional accomplishment, relentless passion, and balanced living embody everything I aspire to as I build my career, all while soaking in the unparalleled beauty and lifestyle the Hamptons have to offer.
The Spark of Female Entrepreneurship Among Friends
Gina Bradley founded Paddle Diva in 2009 with a mission to serve women craving a transformative experience on the water through stand-up paddleboarding. With a rich background in marketing, design, and a lifelong passion for water sports and fitness, Gina created a niche business recognized throughout the Hamptons. Paddle Diva began by focusing on women, designing custom lighter, smaller boards suited for female paddlers, fostering empowerment and wellness. Her innovative, client-focused approach and business acumen show the importance of truly listening to customers and creating unique, impactful experiences.
Helen Gifford brings beauty and function together in her bespoke lighting business, HelenBilt. Based in Sag Harbor, Helen combines her international design education with a love for handcrafted, sustainable artisan work. Her unique approach is an inspiring example of blending personal values with business, elevating spaces with her artistic fixtures that tell a story. Helen’s dedication to craftsmanship and authenticity shines as a model for integrating passion with entrepreneurship.
Kirstin Boncher, based in Boca Raton and East Hampton, offers modern headshots and branding photography that goes beyond simple portraits — she captures the true essence of personal and professional identity. In fact, Kirstin designed my website and did the photography, bringing her creative vision to my own professional brand in a way that feels authentic and compelling. Her ability to tell stories visually through her work fuels my ambition to lead with originality and purpose.
Support, Inspiration, and Leadership in Friendship
What makes these women extraordinary beyond their business successes is the genuine support they offer me in all facets of life. Their encouragement transcends professional advice; it immerses into personal growth, hustle balance, and living a fulfilled life. Knowing they stand behind me to champion my consulting endeavors fuels my confidence and determination. It’s a reminder that leadership isn’t just about what happens at the office or client meetings but also about creating a network of encouragement and belief that uplifts aspirations holistically.
Their varied approaches teach me invaluable lessons about building a business:
Gina models entrepreneurial courage by pioneering a niche and staying deeply client-focused.
Helen shows the importance of melding personal values with artistry and business.
Kirstin models how to inject creativity and authenticity into professional branding.
This diversity of strengths inspires me to shape my consulting practice with a blend of creativity, client dedication, and authenticity, tailored to help others grow sustainably.
The Hamptons: A Perfect Backdrop for Balance and Ambition
The Hamptons itself perfectly complements our entrepreneurial spirit. This coastal haven on Long Island is not just a summer retreat; it’s a lifestyle that effortlessly blends natural beauty, active living, and cultural sophistication. Picture serene beaches like Coopers Beach and Main Beach, picturesque villages filled with charming shops and farmer’s markets, vineyards producing world-class wines, and a vibrant social scene that fuels connection and creativity.
For us, the Hamptons is a daily reminder that success is multifaceted. It encourages taking moments to appreciate nature’s wonders while pursuing professional milestones. Paddleboarding with Gina’s Paddle Diva, strolling artist boutiques, hosting outdoor dinners, or simply lounging by the shore offers a grounding counterbalance to the demands of entrepreneurship.
Building a Business with Heart and Purpose
The stories of Gina, Helen, and Kirstin each show that business is about more than profit margins—it’s about purpose. They prioritize crafting experiences and products with meaning, whether it’s a paddleboarding class that empowers women physically and mentally, a light fixture that transforms a space and uplifts its inhabitants, or a photograph that reveals a client’s essence.
Their successes echo across the Hamptons’ vibrant community of women-owned businesses—from high fashion boutiques to innovative hospitality ventures—all threading a narrative of creativity, resilience, and impact. Being part of this dynamic ecosystem strengthens my resolve to lead with passion and integrity.
How Their Influence Shapes My Consulting Practice
Watching and learning from them, I am inspired to:
Emphasize the personal narrative and brand authenticity in consulting clients’ strategies.
Cultivate niche markets by deeply understanding and responding to client-specific needs.
Embed personal values into professional endeavors to ensure sustainable success.
Build a supportive professional community that fosters collaborative growth.
The friendships with these women are more than social bonds—they are a source of strategic wisdom and encouragement that enrich my leadership and vision.
My Summer in the Hamptons: More Than Just Sunshine and Beaches
This summer, the laughter-filled days with Gina, Helen, and Kirstin have been a masterclass in living fully and leading boldly. Beyond picturesque views and beach days, our shared conversations over coffee or paddle sessions have been about dreams, challenges, growth, and resilience. They remind me daily that the pursuit of professional accomplishments does not have to be at odds with enjoying life’s beauty.
The Hamptons, with its blend of natural splendor and creative energy, offers the perfect setting to nurture this balance. It is a place where friendships flourish alongside business ideas, where encouragement is abundant, and where inspired women like my friends make their mark while leading fulfilling lives.
My summer with this inspiring circle of women entrepreneurs has been a transformative experience. The lessons drawn from Gina Bradley’s pioneering spirit, Helen Gifford’s blend of artistry and authenticity, and Kirstin Boncher’s creative vision galvanize my own journey as a consultant and leader. Together with the Hamptons’ embrace of beauty and balance, this season has reshaped how I approach work and life—with passion, support, and an unwavering commitment to both achievement and joy.
